Healing Energy

Energy exists in all life forms. Photosynthesis, growth, activity, digestion, and even the pumping of the heart depend on energy. We are so accustomed to having energy available for everyday functions, that we seldom think about it unless, of course, for some reason the energy we seek is diminished or unavailable. Unseen energies operate endlessly throughout the universe. We are constantly affected by these forces.

For many centuries there has been a quest to work with energy in various ways. Several ancient approaches to healing are based on the premise that energy in the human body may become blocked or somehow skewed. Therapies such as aryuvedic medicine and acupuncture work with these energies as they flow through pathways, known as meridians, in the human body. The ultimate goal is to allow an unimpeded circulation of energy, thus providing optimum balance for the body's system. Ideally, it is in this state that the body's self healing capacities are most effective.

Vibration is a powerful form of energy and a constant in the world in which we live. The vibratory pulses, tones and intervals found in music are able to create healing energy that affects humans, animals, and even plant life. Music plays a huge part in affecting our positive and negative energy.

There are many therapies involving manipulation of energy. Some of these are considered mainstream approaches to healing such as the use of the TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulator) unit in physical therapy. Others, such as electromagnetic therapy, may be considered  alternative approaches to healing. Still other therapies are thought to be complementary or integrative techniques that do not interfere with traditional medical care, but may in fact enhance it, as is the case with certain stress reduction techniques.
